Boehner, stand up

Has anyone else noticed how they have suddenly changed the pronunciation of Boehner's name from BONER to BAYNER on CNN? I heard it over and again today.

Much was made about the correct pronunciation being BONER. Now, I guess he can't live with it anymore. Geez. If you can't stand up (hee) for your own name, just what in hell can you stand up for?

Just Anti-choice Smoke Blowing

I am watching Judges on Trial on CNN's Broken Government. I am so sick and tired of hearing Republican bullshit about activist judges, and a "policy making" Supreme Court.

Again, I refer to Scalia:

'You talk about independence as though it is unquestionably and unqualifiably a good thing," Scalia said. "It may not be. It depends on what your courts are doing."

Scalia added, "The more your courts become policy-makers, the less sense it makes to have them entirely independent."

The U.S. Constitution IS public policy. Their entire reason for existence is to ensure that lower court rulings and state laws do not sit in opposition to the biggest public policy of all.

To accuse the Supreme Court of making political decisions and "setting" public policies as though this is something only recent and suddenly anathema is just blowing smoke. Perhaps the Republicans should be reminded of...oh, let's see... how about the Dred Scott Case? Brown vs. Board of Education? It is just another anti-choice strategy.

I am enjoying listening to Justice Breyer and former Justice O'Connor, though. I wish all of our Justices were of their caliber. It's just a crying shame that the first black Justice had to be such a pawn to the white right, when there are so many so much more deserving of this long-overdue honor.

You know what? I would have posted something about the whole purposefully misconstrued statement of John Kerry and the criminally cynical liars of the White House and Republican leadership Idgits, but I wanted to deprive the media. Yes, I was afraid to mention anything because I was afraid some bot would find that another Democrat had made reference to it and so they would be able to drone on and on about it for, at least, another news cycle or so. They would dig that deep and go that low.

After all, I heard on CNN tonight that...heh, his name always cracks me up...Boehner was right, you see, to blame the generals for the failed war. Yes, he was right. It's all the generals fault. Because they should "ask" for more troops if they need them, and they haven't.

Perhaps they haven't asked because they would like to keep their jobs? Perhaps they have asked and been denied. If they had been, they would not be free to announce it the media. That would be tantamount to treason, both in the military frame of mindset, and most definitely construed to be as such by the Bushies and Rummy Idgits.

How many generals have resigned or retired just so they could speak their minds to the media and the American people? How many does it take to convince the media that the Pentagon is headed by a fucking nitwit? And, that the buck should be stopping in at the Oval Office. Or at least, waving as it passes down Pennsylvania Avenue.

If you're as sick of biased, corporate controlled media as I am, check this out. I'd rather get my news from Lara Croft than Paula Zahn, anyway.

Win what exactly?

It's obvious that the idgets have a new tack. Watching Mrs. Cheney on CNN and (gag!) O'Reilly on Letterman tonight, they are trying to nail interviewers with a false question. They are asking, "Do you want us to win in Iraq?" It is their way of nullifying valid arguments and penetrating questions by attempting to expose their questioner's supposed lack of patriotism. I would answer the question with a question. "Win what?" What, exactly are we trying to win in Iraq?

Defeat the insurgents? Why? How will that benefit Americans? Is it not true that the insurgency exists because we are there? Wouldn't the way to eliminate the insurgency be to remove it's reason for existence? Yes. Then we should leave. That will eliminate the insurgency. We will win by leaving.

Keep Iran from attempting to invade Iraq? Iran has been invading Iraq since before there was either, approximately 5500 years. The only time that has not been happening is when Iraq has been invading Iran, approximately the same 5500 years.

Are we to remain there with our troops in between Shi'ite (Iran) and Sunni (Iraq and most of the other muslim states), shedding our blood and our treasure for, oh let's guessimate, 6000 years? Is that what the idgets think qualifies as a win?

Thanks, but no thanks. Just like Letterman got (gaggygaggag) O'Reilly to admit, this entire enterprise is about nothing but providing unfettered access to Iraq's oil. Our blood for oil for the mega-multinationals who will then sell this oil back to us at an outrageous cost and pocket profits so enormous as to be vomitous.

There are other sources of energy besides the lifeblood of our soldiers.

Murder! Murder, I say.

Why does broadcast news media never use the word "murder" except on trash like Nancy Grace on CNN? You'll never hear it on news programs on CNN, or in print media, or any other outlet I've found.

Even if someone is convicted of murder, they will say "so-and-so was convicted of killing" his victim.

Killing is killing and murder is murder. Killing is not murder. Murder is killing on purpose.

Soldiers kill in war. A person attacked, kills his attacker. A woman being beaten by her husband, kills him and not often enough.

Do murderers deserve the same benevolence or benefit of a doubt as they?

The man who executed Amish schoolgirls did not kill them. He murdered them. Did you hear the word murder in any of the coverage or see it in any written account? I didn't.

There used to be a saying "call a spade, a spade", which I don't think had a racist connotation. The only spade I know of is in the garden or a pack of cards, but there's no telling how anything will be taken anymore.

Political correctness for the sake of hurting the feelings or sensibilities of the innocent or overly sensitive is one thing. But, I think it's a sad day when so-called reporters of the so-called news are too timid to call a murder a murder and a murderer a murderer.
